Back to Lubbock

We decided to take a trip to Lubbock a couple weekends ago. With Karyn being born in late August, we weren’t able to make it out for a football game last fall. This would be Karyn’s first trip outside the metroplex and our first trip with both girls.

We left at 4:30am so that both Katie Lynn and Karyn would sleep in the car. Surprisingly, they did just that!

First stop in Lubbock — Monica’s old school.

After a quick bite to eat and a drive by our old house (no comment on the changes the new owners have done.. ), we headed over to my old job to visit my old coworkers.

After a ride around Lubbock and a couple unsuccessful visits to Katie Lynn’s old doctors, it was time to check in at the hotel.

For dinner Friday night, we headed over to 50th Street Caboose to meet a group of friends.

After dinner and a few games, we went back to one of the couples’ house.

Most of the kids: Katie Lynn, Karyn, Colin, Easton, Emma Kate.

Once the kids were all tired, it was back to the hotel for a good night’s rest.

Saturday morning we went to breakfast with the same group of people from Friday night.

After breakfast, we stopped by to see Wade, Brooke, and Kyler at their new house.

Next we had lunch with our friend Chris from college, his wife Tiffany and their son Eli. Amazingly, even though we’d never met Tiffany, it seemed like we’d been friends all along! The wonders of blogs.

After lunch, we headed down to the Tech campus and the nearby spirit shops. We met Monica’s friend Leigh Ann to meet her baby boy.

Next up was meeting Larry, Janae, and Lani for dinner. Afterwards, we went back to their house so that Katie Lynn and Lani could play together.

On Sunday morning, we went to the Tech campus to take some pictures, but it was too windy and cold so we decided to go to Starbucks.

We braced for a long trip back to McKinney since both girls would be awake.. but to our surprise, they were both VERY good in the car! They started getting a little restless the last 30 minutes or so. We’ll take that!

To Pierce..take two

Round Two, we got Katie Lynn’s ears pierced at 6 months so we thought we should do the same for Karyn. She did such a great job and was all smiles for the most part. The ladies did a double ear approach, so two shots at one time. Karyn cried for about 5 seconds and then was good to go. Enjoy.

Happy 6 Month Birthday Karyn!!!

Weight: 15lbs 13oz (50%)

Length: 26inches (50%)

Head: 17inches (75%)

Time sure has gone by fast, the 2nd child sure does grow faster.

What Karyn is up to…

-rolls both ways

-plays peek-a-boo

-sitting on her own, keeps one hand down for support half the time

-can lean forward to get a toy and sit back up

-knows when Mommy or Daddy leaves a room

-bottom 2 teeth are right under the surface

-mastered cereal, loves it

-has tried peas and sweet potatoes, loves them too

-doubled her birth weight

-easy going

We went and took 6 month pictures of Karyn and got some with Katie Lynn too.

WHAT!!! 5 Months Old Already

Time sure is flying by. Karyn has to be one of the most relaxed, calm, easy going babies I have ever met. She has been such a joy and we are soaking up every minute of her every chance we get.

Weight: 14lbs 14oz

What is she up to…

rolls from tummy to back to tummy
laughs and giggles
pulls legs up under her while on tummy
sits up assisted really well, will sit alone for about 3 seconds
reaches for toys and pulls them in
cereal added to last bottle of the day (cereal coming soon)
loves her Daddy
sleeps about 6-8 hours at night (on a good night)
adores her big sister, watches her all the time
blows bubbles while trying to do a raspberry
tries to sit up while laying down, gets upset when she cant
can move things one hand to the other
