As you all know, Peanut’s due date is fast approaching. We are down to the final 9 weeks and based on Monica’s first pregnancy, could be sooner.  Our poll has been up for a little while now and this is just a reminder that it will close on the 1st of August.  So you know have about 1 month to get your 2 cents in or forever hold your piece.

For those of you wanting to know all the facts before you make that every educated guess here they are:

• Monica craved salty items in the 1st trimester like deviled eggs and chips & salsa: 1st trimester with KL was sweets like anything chocolate
• No morning sickness this time around or with KL
• Monica seems to be carrying more out in front with Peanut and she carried more around with KL
• Chinese Calendar states this is a girl: Chinese Calendar stated that KL was a boy
• Both pregnancies have been fairly smooth sailing
• Heartbeat with Peanut has run about 135-155 and Heartbeat with KL ran about 155-170
• Peanut measures about 1-2 weeks ahead and KL measured right on for averages

Yesterdays appointment went great.  The Doctor was pleased with Peanut’s growth and heartbeat. All my vitals checked out and we are good to go until next time.

We went to story time again this week.  Katie Lynn really likes the music at story time.  After story time we went to check out the water fountain out front.  She loves the water.  She will point and say “wa-wa”

We started the day off right — celebrating and praising our Father up above. Katie Lynn enjoyed her “Sunday school” class.. and didn’t even cry when we dropped her off this time. Today was the first time I “handed her over”, and we think she’s simply used to me doing that since I’m the one dropping her off at daycare during the school year.

After church, we headed out to eat for lunch.. my choice of course! I decided on BJ’s.

After lunch, we head to the store for our weekly grocery shopping and then headed home. Once Katie Lynn woke up from her nap, Katie Lynn and Monica hand me my gifts. They got me a pair of Texas Tech Crocs and a compact cordless screwdriver. Perfect gifts!

At the store earlier, Katie Lynn got some “baby bottles” for her dolls. She’s in a “motherly” mood lately, and it’s so cute.

We finished off the day at the pool. Katie Lynn loves being in the water, and especially “jumping” into the water.. with help from us of course.

Such a great Father’s Day made possible by my gorgeous wife and beautiful daughter!

My Dad went and got 8 inch pipping and got it all ready to go.  His vision was to have something that was durable that wouldn’t rust or rot and it could go with us if we ever move.  He also wanted it to be safe and there are no hard corners to hit, nails or screws to rust.  He did a really good job of envisioning a great sandbox that is one of a kind and safe for all.

We  got an early start to our day on Sunday morning.  We first had to get rid of our old sandbox, which was in a lot worse shape than we had realized. 

First we removed all the old sand (which was full of who-knows-what) and then removed the old box.

Jump ahead to Monday night, Katie Lynn decided the sand was not that bad and that she could play in it.  I am sure she will get to a point were we will have to drag her out of the sandbox.

A big Thank you to my folks for the sandbox!! It will get lots of use over the years and I am sure Katie Lynn will share with Peanut.  Also, a Thank you to Tom for the sand. The sandbox is awesome and I love it!!!

Monday: First day of swim class! My mommy was more excited than I was.  Here I am with my daddy and then mommy getting ready to leave for my 1st day of class.  I spent a lot of the time crying and holding onto my mommy.  She told me it was okay but I don’t think I believed her.

Swim class really took it out of me, I took a short nap on our way home.

Monday night we hung out on the back patio.  My parents gave me this red thing, I was not sure what to do with it.  I ended up putting it all over the ground and playing in it, fun times.

Tuesday: Another day of swim class, today was better.  I enjoyed the song parts today.  We sang “The wheels on the Bus”, “Motor Boat Motor Boat”, and  “Old McDonald had a farm”.  I did the motions for these songs today but the other stuff, I didn’t want anything to do with it.  They should really warm up the water.

Tuesday night I got to play outside with a tub of water, this was so much fun.  I got to make a big mess and no one was upset that the “wa-wa” did not stay in the bucket.

Later Tuesday night, we got to see some storms.  The sirens went off and we saw the neighbors trampoline jump the fence and land in the driveway behind them.  I guess the trampoline decided it was its turn to jump a little.  You can see the trampoline upside down just past the fence.

Wednesday: Swim lessons went really well today, I loved it all and was smiling and laughing and having a good time.  Then someone decided that I needed to be dunked.  Mommy said it was part of the class and that is what the teacher told her to do.  Hmm…I am not so sure.  I was not happy after that. 

Wednesday afternoon I got to go with my mommy and daddy to Peanut’s doctor appointment.  This was the first time I got to go.  I was not to sure about this, they kept saying it was for Mommy but I thought it might be a trick.  Come to find out, my parents were telling the truth and I just had to sit there and be cute.  Everyone thought I was cute and said I could come visit anytime.  SO I might just have to go to all these visits until Peanut gets here.  Whoever Peanut is.

Thursday: There was rain and so swim class was cancelled. I spent the day around the house and got in a good 3 hour nap. Life is good.

Friday: Off to our make-up swim lesson.  Today was the most fun ever! The water was really cold from the rain but that did not bother me.  We did lots of songs and I even practiced kicking, digging, jumping off the wall and even let my mommy dunk me.  I cried a little but was okay with it today.  After swim class we went to our pool.  There were lots of kids and I played, laughed and had a great time in the pool again.  Maybe this pool thing is not so bad.

Friday night: I helped my mommy bake some brownies. We are going to some friends house tomorrow and we are bringing dessert.  My parents tell me that their friends are having twins on MY birthday!!! Okay, well maybe not MY birthday but sometime in November.  My mommy let me help with the baking.  I was a good helper.

It was a fast and busy weekend and I had such a good time!!  Thank you so much Grams and Granddad for taking care of me.

Mommy and Daddy showed up Sunday to pick me up.  I was very happy to see them and glad that they hadn’t forgotten me.  I had a great time with my Grams and Granddad.

May 29, 2009 — A certain pregnancy does not allow us to return to Vegas. Instead, we decide to spend the weekend at the Gaylord Texan. 

First piece of business: Drop Katie Lynn and Wrigley off at Monica’s folk’s house. 

Next up? Getting to the hotel. Easy right? Well.. yes.. it should have been. I bet Monica will remember this differently.. We exit from the highway an exit past the one we should have exited at. No problem.. u-turn around and it’s all good. We come up to a stop light and I ask “Turn right here?” to which Monica responds “Yes.”  So I turn and Monica says “No, not right here. At the next light!” Okay, so a quick turnaround and we’re on our way.

So we (finally) arrive at the hotel, get checked in, and head up to our room.

We decide to head to Macaroni Grill for dinner. I had never been before, and was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was.

After dinner, we head back to the hotel. Before heading in, we go up to the top of the parking garage to watch a fireworks show the hotel puts on every Friday night.

Saturday morning was all about one thing — sleeping in! We slept until the ripe, late hour of 9:30am. Hey, that is late when you have an eighteen month old! 

First up — swimming in the indoor pool! It was nice and relaxing.

Next up — lunch. We eat at the Texas Station which is the sports bar. Great food!

After lunch comes exploring the hotel! We walk around and take it all in. Even though we weren’t really doing anything, it was exactly what we wanted to do. We sat out by the outdoor pool for a while before heading upstairs to our room for — what else..  a nap!

After about a two hour nap, we get up and get ready for the night. There was a caricaturist downstairs, so we had to get one of those done! I tried scanning it, but that didn’t go so well, so you’ll just have to come by the house to see it.

After putting the caricature in our room, we head down to do the one thing we actually had planned — attend the murder mystery dinner show! We get seated and proceed to help ourselves to the dinner buffet. I won’t go into too much detail about the actual show, but we had a blast. I personally knew “whodunit” even though our table guessed a different way.

Sunday morning, we grab some breakfast down at the Riverwalk Cafe. After breakfast, we head back up to our room, pack, check-out, and head over to pick up Katie Lynn and Wrigley.

We had a great time celebrating our fifth anniversary together. Maybe for our tenth anniversary we’ll make it back to Vegas.

The doctor was very pleased with her progress. She’s hitting all of her milestones.. and even some of the two year milestones. There were three vaccinations — which Katie Lynn DID NOT like — so we won’t talk about those. Next appointment occurs when she’s 2!
