Time sure has flown by, this pregnancy has gone by so much faster than the first one. Due to some blood pressure issues off and on the past couple of weeks we are going to the hospital today. I will be admitted tonight and will be induced first thing in the morning. We are very excited about this and can’t wait for what the future holds.

Here is my 39 week photo and we are off to the hospital. Next time you hear from us we should have a new bundle of joy. Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers and love. It means so much to use that you all are thinking of us.

We spent a quiet weekend at the house and since Monica will be admitted to the hospital tomorrow night, that made tonight our last night together before our newest member arrives. We decided to go out for a nice dinner at Texas Roadhouse and then for a special treat we went and got ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s.

Monica’s 38 week appointment did NOT go as expected. Heading into the appointment, we were fairly certain the doctor would want to induce on Thursday. Well, that didn’t happen.

Instead, Monica’s blood pressure decided it wanted to elevate a little.. which prompted the doctor to have Monica go to the hospital for overnight monitoring and to have a protein check done after 24 hours of urine collection. Since my Mom was expected to be out of her surgery around the end of Monica’s appointment. Monica heads off to our hospital, and I head back to my Mom’s hospital with the intention to go over to spend the night with Monica once my Mom was out of surgery and I was able to see her. That, unfortunately, took what seemed like an eternity. Mom was in ICU — where cell phones are not allowed. So my Dad, my sister Kim, and I all turned off our cell phones.

In the meantime, Monica’s blood pressure was perfectly normal at every reading at the hospital. The on-call doctor from our doctor’s practice decides to discharge Monica and let her complete the urine collection at home. She calls me to let me know.. straight to voice mail. Calls again.. straight to voice mail. Sends me a txt message.. I didn’t get it. My phone was turned off. Monica calls Kim.. same thing. My dad.. same thing. She calls Ryan (our brother-in-law) and he answers! But he’s at home with our nieces. Finally about 45 minutes after Monica’s text message I get it.. I felt so bad!

Monica’s folks had met her at the hospital to pick up Katie Lynn, and naturally they had just gotten home when Monica was released. No big deal though in the end.. that just allowed Monica and me to get a good night sleep.

Monica was instructed to set up a follow-up appointment with her doctor for Thursday. She calls this morning to schedule it.. to find out it’s only a blood pressure check and that she won’t even see the doctor. Her doctor wants to see her Monday for a regular 39 week appointment..

..and then will send us to the hospital to begin cervadril. Pitocin will start on Tuesday.. followed by a bouncing baby!

Tuesday was definitely one long day!

Yesterday marked the 37 week point — full term! Since Katie Lynn arrived around the 36 week mark, we were ecstatic to make it to 37 weeks.

Monica’s appointment went very well! Peanut is measuring roughly 38 weeks and weighs around 7lbs 3oz. We discussed “the plan” with the doctor and got her thoughts. Monica’s blood pressure has generally been fine throughout her pregnancy but at times it has been elevated in relation to her norm. Depending on how Monica’s checkup goes a week from today, an induction might be scheduled for Thursday, August 20! We’ll definitely keep everyone updated.

A couple recent sonograms:

Monica’s 37 week belly shot.. and Katie Lynn hamming it up:

Warning: Lots of photos

We have been on the go, go, go!!! We have a list of things that need to be done and it seems as we cross 1 thing off, we add 2 more. We have spent the last couple of weekends getting ready for our new baby. It has been a lot of fun and I think we are ready, or as ready as we can be.

We got Peanuts room finished, Katie Lynn into her big girl bed and our bags packed.

Here are some photos, enjoy.

Peanuts Room:

Tom replaced the old light with a fan, this fan only took him 2 hours, unlike Katie Lynn’s which took him 5

Here are the numbers up in the room, my Mom cross-stitched this for me when I was a baby and my Dad made the frame. I just love it!!

Here is our dresser/changing table. Since then we found some cool tan and brown baskets to go in the cubbies to hold different goodies.

Getting things ready for Peanut:

We were able to get the car seat base in the middle of Tom’s car and Katie Lynn’s seat stayed where it was. She wasn’t sure what to think of her baby being right next to her. There is also room for an adult to sit next to the baby seat….so I guess that is where I will be for the first couple of months. (Make sure they are getting along)

We got all of our baby stuff washed, folded and put away. Ready to go. Much harder to do this as we had a little helper wanting to look at everything. Here is Katie Lynn wearing one of her old bibs, we had so much fun! It was hard to believe that Katie Lynn was ever this small but then some of these outfits were to big and she was even smaller.

Katie Lynn’s crib change:

Hanging out in her crib for the last time.

Helping Mommy take off the bumper.

We couldn’t keep her out of her new bed, she was all smiles.

First nap in her new bed:

We said “it was time to go night-night” and she looked at us and said “no, no”

Then we said again, “time to go night-night”. She laid on the floor.

As we left the room, she stood there screaming.

Then, we waited outside her room and if you look close enough, you can see her little feet standing by the door. I went in and rocked her to sleep and since then she has been doing pretty good sleeping in her new bed. She loves being able to get in and out on her own. When she gets up in the morning she goes to her door and knocks on it. She then says “Mommy” and will knock and say mommy till Mommy gets up there. She is just too cute!

Bonus:

I just love this picture! Thought I would share.

Here we are, 32 weeks into our 2nd pregnancy. (today is really 33 weeks but I am a week behind) It is kind of scary to think that we will soon have another little one to watch and take care of. We are so excited for the arrival of Peanut. We can’t wait to meet him/her, see who they look like and really can’t wait to see how Katie Lynn reacts to a new baby.

Last week was a busy week, we had a sono appointment and our regular doctor’s appointment. Both appointments went great!

Sono- the doctor checked out Peanut and was pleased with how the baby looked. All of Peanut’s organs and growth look great also. This doctor took a special look at the stomach and intestines, he said all looked good. Peanut’s heartbeat was 138 and from the measurements he/she weights about 4.5 pounds.

Regular appointment- We meet with another doctor in the practice, we have almost met them all. This one was really nice and is the one that Monica has talked to on the phone several times when she has had to call after hours. The doctor was please with all of Monica’s reports and she checked out the baby as well. At this appointment Peanut’s heartbeat was 140 and measured at the 32 week mark. Right on track. Things are looking great! We couldn’t be more excited.

Here are some photos: What you really came for

Here is Peanut, you can see the face and the arm is going across the side of the face.

I love this one, you can see more of a profile but if you look closely, you can see all the hair on Peanut’s head. The hair looks like it is combed to the side. The sono tech kept going on and on about how much hair the baby has.

Win what you ask…..not sure yet, but it will be something cool.

As you all know, Peanut’s due date is fast approaching. We are down to the final 9 weeks and based on Monica’s first pregnancy, could be sooner. Our poll has been up for a little while now and this is just a reminder that it will close on the 1st of August. So you know have about 1 month to get your 2 cents in or forever hold your piece.

For those of you wanting to know all the facts before you make that every educated guess here they are:

Monica craved salty items in the 1st trimester like deviled eggs and chips & salsa: 1st trimester with KL was sweets like anything chocolate

No morning sickness this time around or with KL

Monica seems to be carrying more out in front with Peanut and she carried more around with KL

Chinese Calendar states this is a girl: Chinese Calendar stated that KL was a boy

Both pregnancies have been fairly smooth sailing

Heartbeat with Peanut has run about 135-155 and Heartbeat with KL ran about 155-170

Peanut measures about 1-2 weeks ahead and KL measured right on for averages

Hope you have fun guessing and if you need any more information to make your super intelligent guess feel free to leave a comment.

How you win: Just so you know it is fair and we did not rig the game (Tom came up with the system)

It will be based on a point system after the gender is correctly guessed and the person with the lowest score will win

Weight: you will get 5 points for each pound you are off and 1 point for each ounce you are off

Length: you will get 1 point for each inch you are off

Day: you will get 1 point for each day you are off

Time: will only be used if needed for a tie breaker, you will get 1 point for each hour you are off

Enjoy!

PS – If you already guessed and want to change anything, email Tom.

What a busy week. Monday we hit the big 30 week mark. That puts us at about 75% of the way through the pregnancy and only and short 10 weeks left, give or take I guess. We had another appointment this week and all went well. Our Doctor likes to rotate her patients through all the Doctors in the office. There are 3 other Doctors in the office and we got to meet 1 of them at this appointment. She was really nice and very friendly. It is nice to know that one of these 4 doctors will deliver Peanut when he/she comes. We will get to meet another 1 of the doctors at our next appointment in 2 weeks. We also have a sonogram scheduled that same week. I can’t wait to see Peanut again in a couple of weeks.

Yesterdays appointment went great. The Doctor was pleased with Peanut’s growth and heartbeat. All my vitals checked out and we are good to go until next time.

Here are some pictures:

Katie Lynn with us at our appointment, once again, she was glad the visit was not for her

Friday:

We went to story time again this week. Katie Lynn really likes the music at story time. After story time we went to check out the water fountain out front. She loves the water. She will point and say “wa-wa”

WOW! 24 weeks, time is flying by. There is only 16 weeks left and I am sure they will be just as fast if not faster. Peanut and Mommy are doing good! I feel the baby more and more everyday. Tom got to feel Peanut for the first time at the 22 week mark, 4 weeks earlier than with Katie Lynn.

My belly is starting to show and a certain daughter has taken notice. When we ask where Peanut is, she comes over to me and looks under my shirt. She will also pat my tummy and say bay-be, bay-be and then sometimes she will hug my tummy.

Here is a link to my 24 week belly shot from our first pregnancy: 24 weeks

Here is me today at 24 weeks with our second pregnancy:

(I planned on wearing the same thing so I could compare the two)
