“The Gown”

December 21, 2009 by Tom Sepper

You’ve probably read about Katie Lynn’s and Karyn’s baptisms and seen us refer to “the gown”. So what is it about “the gown” that makes it special?

It was handmade by my Grandmother to have her kids baptized in. Three generations of my family have now been baptized in it (in order):

  • My Uncle Bill (my Mom’s Brother)
  • My Mom
  • Kim (my Sister)
  • Me
  • Madison (our Niece / Kim’s daughter)
  • Katie Lynn
  • Lauren (our Niece / Kim’s daughter)
  • Karyn

It’s a tradition that we’re honored to keep going with hopes that it will continue on into the next generations!

On Thanksgiving, I asked my Mom to find some pictures of her, my uncle, Kim, and me all in the gown. Unfortunately, she could not find any of her in it but actually found a couple of my uncle!

What an honor for you to post this. It thrills me to have the gown passed down as it has been. Thank you.

How wonderful to have the same gown through the generations, and to have pictures taken, and to have your girls baptised in it. that is really something. GBeth
